Joshua Block, or Josh Block, who is known by his username “worldoftshirts” on various social media platforms, has launched his own cryptocurrency called $BLOCK. You can find the current pricing here.
Block is known for a variety of topics but is perhaps best known for his live streaming, which is now primarily run out of another person’s (Mr. Based aka Jason Lubell aka Jason Itzler) apartment. Josh Block also has approximately 3.6m followers on TikTok, which is primary source of exposure beyond his live streams.
Though Block himself has not spoken much on the topic, on live streams or otherwise, he has posted it a few times on his Instagram (of the same moniker).
Mr. Based (Itzler) has claimed on live stream that “worldoftshirts” would “quit drinking alochol forever” if the coin were to hit $1. Of course, hitting $1 is incredibly unlikely, though it is entirely possible that the coin does find some sort of run in the coming weeks and months. It is worth noting that Josh is a heavy drinker and alcohol is a recurring theme in his posts and streams, which is why the idea of “quitting alcohol forever” is promoted as a reason to buy the coin.
Based and Josh Block claim that they will be committed to promoting the coin for 6 months, implying that they are not simply here to pump and dump the coin as is so often the case with coin launches of this nature. At the end of the day, this is the furthest thing from a stablecoin, but it is in line with many, many other “celebrity” crypto coin launches that have risen to popularity in the past few years.
For context, Itzler has a very well documented (though also disputed) history online, and Josh Block has become best known for his “crashouts” and his frequent drinking and traveling. Block aspires to accumulate enough cash from this cryptocurrency launch so that he can financially be able to travel the world. Josh Block is known for his disdain for living in the US (NYC specifically) and frequents other parts of the world, often times spending only one to two days in distant locations.
Time will tell whether $BLOCK coin is able to gain traction one way or the other, be it through self-promotion or through some sort of social media wave.
